Welcome Letter

First of all thank you for your continued support and participation in GIPAW. I am excited and humbled to be the Chairperson for the upcoming year. The strength of this great organization comes from the participation and dedication of its members to make a difference in Wisconsin Government. GIPAW is here to offer opportunities for networking with IT Professionals and to also take advantage of the shared wealth of expertise and experiences that its members bring. To help accomplish this the Board is planning to revamp the GIPAW website this year to make it easier to post things and to keep it more up to date.
We also hope you will pencil in the main events in 2012 which are:
• May 16th - 18th, 2012 Annual Conference, Olympia Conference Center, Oconomowoc, WI
• September 27th - 28th , General Meeting in Madison
I would like to welcome our new members to the board of directors, Terry DeBrabander from Racine County and Wayne Sleeter from Oconto County, in addition to extending my thanks to Rick Powell from the City of Two Rivers and Joe Wenninger from the City of Neenah for their service on the board. Joe was having so much fun though that he is going to continue on as the annual conference lead contact.
The 2012 GIPAW officers are:
• Janet Huppert Chairperson • Tom Miller Vice-Chairperson • Mickey Crittenden Treasurer • Angela Galfano Secretary
We decided to go back to having a separate invoice for the GIPAW dues to hopefully make things less confusing. The invoice was attached to the same e-mail as this letter and can also be found on the GIPAW website at www.gipaw.org. The annual dues are still $50 per year and go towards putting on two great events per year and sponsoring $4,000 in tech school scholarships. The dues are for your entire entity and also give you unlimited access to the active and informative listserv. One of our Board members said he tells his staff that if someone else hasn't already done what they are trying to do they probably shouldn't be doing it. The listserv is the perfect place to find out how others are doing what you are trying to do. due to Angela Galfano by 3/1/12.
Your entity will be deleted from the listserv for nonpayment of dues. If you know someone that is new to WI government IT or for whatever reason has never been a member of GIPAW please send this introductory letter to them. I have personally found that a follow up call or e-mail can be the encouragement someone needs to become a member or attend the annual conference or fall meeting. I have always found the GIPAW organization to be very welcoming of new people. We have all been there and know that growing this organization can only be a positive thing for all of us.
If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me or any of the board members throughout the year. Our goal is to provide resources to help you be successful in your jobs and to have a little fun along the way.
